Split heads began mid 1947 with 283A4 engine which replaced the earlier KEF engine.
As to Live PTO, they were common on UB, but were available maybe as early as 1950 as I recall on U. As to adding one, you would need to change over to disc brake setup and special left shaft and a working LPTO and housing.
I have never seen the question as to adding - most often question is how to remove LPTO when the clutch has issues - and even thats a pain as you need the shorter disc brake shaft and housing but you at least keep the discs so no pain on right side.
