I recently purchased a 1941 101 Junior with a continental F140. The tractor is having some issues running. Any time the tractor is under any strain it stalls. Stain meaning going up a slight hill, or having more then 2 people sit on the tractor. This was running in 3rd gear. If you go into any other gear it stalls right away. The tractor is still a 6 volt system, the generator is not hooked up and it has a 12 volt battery installed. Oil pressure is at 35 (I believe) can check this tonight if needed. My father suggested that the issue was the distributor is not advancing since there is a 12 volt battery installed. This is our first tractor and don’t know much about them. Does anyone else agree this may be the issue, or is there something else I should be looking into? Possibly a bad governor? Also I am looking to convert to a 12 volt system and also would like to get rid of the points. I would like to get a kit to do this because they usually come with a bracket for the alternator, I don’t feel confident I could make one that would work well. Does anyone know of a good kit?
