David, Is there much difference between the 318 and 318.2? I presume the latter is an improved version of the former. Did they manage to cure the notorious head gasket blowing proclivities of that engine? I seem to remember Massey sort of "gave up" on that engine when they replaced the 698 with the 698T. I have just been reading an excellent and very entertaining book by David Walker called "Inside Massey Ferguson" . He mentions the problems of the A4.318 fitted to the 1080/ 595 quite a lot. One of the funniest parts of the book though is when he talks about a tractor driver in Africa, who destroyed the engine in his 135 by replacing the dirty oil in the air cleaner with fresh new clean dry sand!
