Question from a Massey nooby. Just purchased a '61 MF35 Diesel Deluxe without multipower. First tractor in years and my first Massey.
When I got it, it had sat out in the rain and the rear end/transmission was overfull due to water getting in thru a torn shifter boot. After draining both sumps and flushing it with diesel, I cleaned the filter screen and wiped out the sumps and found numerous bearing parts near the filter. Based on what I found, the pieces are from a bearing cage that was approximately 1-3/4" OD and the needle bearings are about 3/8" in width. The only clue that I have at this point is that the tractor has a subtle knocking sound when driven in 2nd gear, either range. Other than the knock, that the previous owner claimed was there when they bought it 4 years ago, the tractor runs fine thru all the gears and doesn't seem to have any obvious transmission/differential issues. Any thoughts on which bearing came apart and what issues it may cause?
