A while back I came across an old ferguson saw bench, was missing its Id plate, but I wanted something to use, not just restore and display, tho if I come across one worthy of restoration that could happen too.
I also came with a belt but no pto pulley or bracket.
Welds looked good, and it wasn't too stuffed around with.
(stuffed around with is the technical term for improved or modded by previous owners). hehe.
Now I was after a pto pulley box, and after recovering from hearing the price the tractor wreckers wanted for one, I decided to wait for a clearing sale or two and let patience pay off.
Eventually, I came across one, but it was for the t20, and thus had the smaller pto spline than the one my Mf35 has.
I then came across another one, but it was physically larger than the t20 box, mounting spacing was the same, pto spline was correct, but its a good inch wider than the t20.
At that time I was not entirely sure it would fit with the lower 3pl arms, but decided to give it a go anyway and make the bracket to fit accordingly.
More coffees and internet surfing, and I had the drawings for the bracket, and made mine a multi fit so I can use the saw on my35 and the outlaws ted20.
Thus the offset when fitted at the top bracket, and spacing away from the non flat mounting surface of the larger pto gearbox pulley.
Finally got it all together after cleaning up the threads on the nuts and studs, and refitting a loose stud and it works well with no noises, I then had to move the pulley on the saw axle over a bit towards the center to allow for better tracking of the belt and the whole things works as it should.
A lot safer than using a chainsaw on a loose pile of branches plunge cutting to length.
During the internet research I came across a picture of an old ferguson tractor cover, we had some old canvas awnings from a garage sale, so made up some patterns and made a custom fit for the annoying aftermarket seat and I think it turned out well.
Made the back of it come right out and over the top 3pl so that water entry point is well covered.
