Bill, The 1240 was the front runner for no-till for JD ! You could get bolt-on coulters to attatch to the front bar of the planter frame. There should be some around if you do some scrounging. Check your operator's manual for options or go to your local JD dealer and have him do computer search for that item. Then have him do a dealer search and see if some old dealer still has some units on his shelves. If that fails, you could retro-fit a set of no-till coulters from a 7000. Do you have double disc openers on your 1240? That was an option that you would need to take advantage of the coulters. Anyhow, good luck on whatever you decide.
