This is reference to an original post made on 3/29/2014 "I need help on 300b hydraulic issues" First and foremost, I want to thank yawl for the help yawl gave me and JDemaris, yes I'm from Texas as you well know from the call "lol". The backhoe is back up and running. buickanddeere, you asked a question about what was on the screen and I didn't see it till this morning, the best description I can give for what was on the screen is if you take out the screen in your clothes dryer the lint on that is the closest thing that comes to mind first but very slimy, took a while to get it clean, there also appeared to be trash on it also like chewed up O rings, cedar twigs "it was purchased from Austin TX" etc...,that slimy material was by far the majority, when I got the screen out I left it open and filtered about 4Gls of the old fluid through an old shirt doubled and then poured that through a screened funnel to flush the transmission out. To me it appears who ever serviced this tractor did not take care in keeping the area clean as they removed and replaced the parts, There are signs of some significant work having been done on it, the oil pan, water pump and what appears to be a plate between the water pump and engine, steering wheel assembly which still leaks at the top large nut, and the plate on the right hand side that the foot pedal is suppose to be attached to directly below where the steering assembly is bolted, all of this has been removed and replaced, it does not appear to have ever been broken apart. We purchased this knowing there was going to be some hydraulic hose issues and he, (the tractor backhoe, my Brother in Law named him Chompy "Sir Chomps A lot" and it has stuck he's a city boy what can you expect) has not disappointed us. I'm making this post because of a comment that buickanddeere made and if this is a sign of potential problems that I can take care of I want to catch it know before it get's to expensive. Also, can yawl give me an idea of what this loader backhoe can potentially be worth, not restored but at least in good running condition and most if not all hoses replaced.

Thank yawl very much you've been a life saver

Today's Featured Article - Madison's County - by Anthony West. Philip Madison has been a good friend of mine for quite some time. He has patiently suffered my incessant chit chat on the subject of tractors for longer than I care to remember, and on many occasions he has put himself out, dropped what ever it was he was doing, to come and lend a hand cranking handles, or loading a find onto a trailer. Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects. ... [Read Article]
