It will wet the shoes again if you don't adjust the axle bearings. Been a long time but sticks in my mind a pre load of .010 or maybe only .005" measured at the front & rear of the trumpet bell when attached with only the top bolt is what they want on the axles? I'd have to look it up to be certain!
Last time I was in there on our H was back in the early 80's & I installed a real thin cross sectioned O ring between the brake drum & the seal ring in addition to the sealer Mike mentioned. Don't know if it made a difference but the brakes still work.
