Everybody has good info here, with a bit more thought and research, my suggestion is to get a different hitch assembly, one of the safety release hitches AND breakaway hydraulic couplings IF you are likely to encounter any rocks etc. that may cause damage. The hitch you have now is intended to be used with a hand clutch tractor and clutch release mechanism as mentioned by others it is called a "Cushion Hitch" by John Deere and just needs a clevis. You may successfully use this hitch and never have a problem if you don't hit anything really hard or if you are not plowing too fast. If you know your ground and are comfortable it is rock free, go for it.
