One thing is at the fan blade there are lots of places that wear can add up to a lot and it may not be the bevel gears so much. Cam bearing on an A are prone to problems and they also can add to that figure. If I was going to swap the complete assembly would be the way to go as long as it's bearings were in good shape. A lot of risky labor to remove and replace those gears. I say risky because every so often you can break something with all the force required to remove them.
