the 1010 special was a version that john deere made to cheapen it up for the buyer. It was an early example of the 4000. designed for the economy. the special had a tin seat instead of a cushion seat It usually didnt have a fuel gage. the tires were smaller size and lights were an option on them. available only in gas and manual steering was standard feature. Although most of them did have a swept back axle. 4938 made. They are actually a nice little tractor and the collectors do not give them enough attention. I would like to own one some day.
