Hey Jeff, Just wanted to say thanks for posting the ads and the links. At least you and the scrap yard owner are trying to do the right thing by attempting to save some history.
Hopefully you will get a few more interested people like Hugh. Sadly, the scrap yard owner will make more money by simply crushing them and not have to deal with the idiots. Really who can blame him if his patience runs short. He (as a scrap dealer)is getting less money than he otherwise could and having to put up with the hassle of idiots too. Sure glad he likes old tractors.
The idiots do not understand what an individual is paid for scrap and what a scrap dealer is paid for scrap are way different values. Some of the scrap yards around me will not even sell to the general public. The yards do not want to deal with the idiots or the liability issues. The scrap yards around me that that will sell to the public are at $0.35 a pound for me to buy from them so that $0.17 to $0.18 per pound is still a deal as it relates to scrap prices - that amount is truly less than he otherwise could get as a scrap dealer.
