YES the Gennys case needs a good ground to case frame.........
If you have a good (at very low ohms measurements) ohm meter and the genny is correct and good internally, heres how to tell which is ARM and which is FLD.
Put meter on low ohms scale,,,,,,,,attach one lead to case frame,,,,,,,the ARM should read near zero ohms very low ,,,,,,The FLD post will read around maybe 3 to 4 ohms higher then that on ARM post......
On some gennys the ARM post is a tad bigger in diameter then the FLD post......
