Measure voltage at the starter while cranking. Test voltage post to post on each battery while cranking. As previously stated, the de-stroked is a must have. There is a very powerful gear reduction PM starter motor without the offset. The mighty Delco 44MT will wail that engine over if equipped with good batteries.
