Farmallb, In looking at my March 1950 John Deere "A" dealer parts catalog, PC-RA1 - (3-50) Revised, John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. I see two fan bearing housing with tube. One with just a pipe plug at the front and one with the pipe plug and a threaded hole behind it for a ventilator pipe to go to the top side of the breather filter housing that would suck a warm oily vapor through the tube from the governor housing forward near the front fan bearing and up the vent pipe, thus oiling the front bearing. This was for tractors 584000 - 647999 ( 1950 )
