I finally went an got a another NEW bill hook. I installed it and the knotter works fine. Neighbor had some broken straw bales he wanted to re-bale. Baled 160 bales and never missed the first knot. Even let the kicker throw half of them. ZERO broken bales.
I compared the first new bill hook to the second one. There is nothing that looks different about them.
Just for fun and curiosity I put the first bill hook back in the knotter. It still will spear the twine just like before. Put the second bill hook in and the knot is tied perfectly.
I have no clue what is wrong with the first bill hook I got. I told the part guy about it and he just told me he will warranty it and make sure the bad one is not resold.
That $72 dollar part sure caused me a bunch of hair pulling. LOL I really wanted to just smash it on the anvil.
