I have baled rotary straw with a 273 and had no problems at all. Rule #1 Don't crowd it. It will happily punch out bales all day if you feed it right. If you hear sheet metal banging you are crowding it. Rule #2 make sure that hinged triangle piece on the outside end of the feeder is there and not binding. It keeps straw from getting in and packing on the very end of the feeder chamber where the forks can't get a bite on it. Rule #3 Double check all your adjustments on the feeder. You may need to change the fork penetration into the bale chamber to make it work. Also this applies to all NH balers with the feeder forks: when your left string/wire side (from tractor seat) is light feed the windrow on the chamber side of the pickup. It may not seem like much but it will make a real difference.
