As part of a baling package which I'm considering purchasing, is a MF42 7ft sickle bar mower. According to the current owner the mower works fine, on inspection the knife sections need some maintenance as they are worn and chipped. It does come with 2 spare knifes though. I think I can work with this.
But one problem which was pointed out to me was a weak threaded link which tends to bend easily, I am not exactly sure what the purpose of the link is, it has something to do with the bar raising mechanism I believe? But it looks like it's seriously metal fatigued and is about to snap completely.
I'm wondering if anyone knows what this link does and suggest how I could remedy the problem if I were to purchase it? Are spare parts still available for this mower?
