Yes, 'small' durable planters are still made for one row planting, and the same unit can be used in 2, 3 or 4 unit configurations. They are made by Powell Manufacturing Co., in Bennettsville, SC 800-845-9087 email: sales@powellmfg.com website: http://www.powellmfg.com The model to see is their Cole Planter, model 12 MX, which is available with or without 3-point mounting adapters, but the adaptor would be worth the $. They are made from cast iron & steel, very durable and there are about 15 different seed plates available, and about 4 different rate control gears used in combination with the plates to dispense whatever, from the biggest lima bean to tomatoe seeds or spinach. A second hopper dispenses fertilizer or dry manufactured limestone sand from about 35 to 650 pounds per acre. I use a 1980 model, still in mint condition, still uses current-production parts, and if kept clean should last a lifetime........they are great!
