I used to have a Gehl 23 something and it used to cut second real well. I don't remember if it had crop lifters on the discs or not. That may be what the dealer is referring to as "wings". You need to have a little lifting "breeze" going through there to pull the grass to the rolls. The lifters or wings do that. I would look at some way of enhancing the lift, that you may be able to do by perhaps welding on to the lifters.
