This has been hashed around alot in the past. If the ground is loose; eg, first pass was with a disk, you might be able to pull 18 ft. Pioneering in the spring or fall in undisturbed soil, better stick around 12 ft. Satisfactorily pulled an 18 ft IH45 and mounted harrow with a JD830 and a MM1050 in loose soil. The MM1050 would about choke when pioneering with that cultivator, so didn't even try with the JD830. Pulled the same IH45 with a 160+hp IH5288 and it was severe overkill. Bought a 26ft Wilrich and like the matchup.
