I finally got the Dominator 76 back in the field after going over it from front to back.We started pulling corn at 22% moisture on fears that the newest tropical system is going to swamp us over the weekend. The Claas sure runs sweet with the Mercedes and does not lack power at all.The cab is light years ahead of the ones on my 642 combines. This corn is running probably close to 240bpa and is as tough as any I have ever combined.I only ran two hoppers with the Claas and was just mainly trying to check it out and get it set but it really suprised me and handled this green corn better than I expected. It does not seem to have quite the capacity that the 642 has but That may change after I get through the learning curve on this one v/s the 642.If there is one thing on this combine that I have learned to hat it is the closed up hopper---Definetly not the greatest thing Claas has ever came up with.I spent about two days in it last week working on the elevator housing and chains in 90 degree heat and I felt like a roasted pig.It sure makes all the hard work worth wile when you hit the field with a combine that has sat so long and was basically wrote off and watch the corn fill the hopper in about 6 minutes with no problems at all.Sitting in the cab listening to the new radio feeling the ice cold a/c looking over a 70 acre field of corn watching the hopper fill quick--Does it get any better? O by the way J.D. Seller you were right,The J.D. chopper on my Fords worked great running at the same speed they were running in wheat. They really are doing a better job of busting up the cobs than I thought they would. All three combine ready to roll and we get rain tonight,I guess tomorrow may be a sleep day.

Today's Featured Article - Search For Spares - by Anthony West (UK). Following on from the aquisition of the old Fordson F, I was very much in need of spares. As a novice though I didn't appreciate the fact that there were so many Fordson tractors made, that all the other makes seem rare by comparison. As far as I was aware a fordson was a fordson and it was only through trial an ... [Read Article]
