I've followed the YT boards on and off for years. Guess it's finally time for me to contribute something...
I bought this 960, 402 cornhead, and 13' platform winter of 2010-11. Finally got it moved to my shop early spring of '11 and started getting it ready for the Half Century of Progress show in Rantoul, IL.
It was a project since it had set for at least 20 years. The fuel take was half full of what could've been mistaken for asphalt, rear tires were shot, wiring was mouse eaten, the right bearing on the front walker crankshaft was GONE and the flange ate into the shaft.
Rebuilding the ignition system and carburetor were the biggest problems. I finally found a kit for the Carter BB E7D4 carb from a supplier in Missouri. New points, condenser, coil, external resistor, etc. New fuel pump, some plumbing, new starter, and the list goes on.
I ran around 100 bu of corn through it at the Half Century show, with only a broken 2050 chain on the cornhead. It was a pretty good show.
This past summer I ran another ~100 bu of wheat through it. I intended on doing more, but the right cylinder bearing was starting to get warm and I really wasn't too interested in burning it to the ground.
