Try not to get too upset with your custom harvester when he cant be there exactly when you want him to be.Being a custom harvester myself,I know the stresses involved with trying to schedule enough acres to make a profit and dealing with weather and breakdowns that you cant help.We make our living off of the same acre you do and unless your guy is one of the few that has a "dont care"additude no custom harvester wants to leave you hanging for any reason.Back to your combine question,i would look for something with auto header height for beans with a grain table and a diesel. I.H.615,715 or 1420-40 series in fair shape are fairly easy to find but new parts for the 15 series will be hard to find.I have seen a lot of TR70-85 New Hollands real cheap and they would be overkill for 100 acres.4400-6600 Deeres are also still around and would fit the bill easily for 100 acres although i have heard that new J.D. parts are starting to become harder to get.Gleaner?I really think that if you buy a combine and maintain it like it is supposed to be for a year or two you will really want that custom guy back.
