Back in the 60's I bought an almost new BOlens 650. It was rope start. As I recall it had a "place for a battery" between the steering column and engine. That was a fun one to drive, but as the bushings wore in the back axle, the axle broke in the middle. I worked in a tool shop and made a new axle. I should have replaced the bushings cause it broke another axle. (there was a hole with a pin thru the axle in the middle, the weak spot). Later I got a 1050- and still have it. I don't have the heart to part with it. It's fun to plow with. I've also pulled a road trailer with it loaded with firewood probably with ton loads and on somewhat soft ground. I have new tractor tread on the rear and wheel weights. It will plow with the front wheels off the ground in tough going.
