The above pic is your model number trans from my dealer's site. You feel the "clicking" into different gears due to the shift detent ball and spring #20 and #22.
#8 shift keys are most likely broken as mentioned. The shift collar #9 slides these shift keys into the different gears via the shift fork that has the detent ball and spring to help hold the shift collar/keys in the selected gear.
