Norrow frame Cubs ended with the 6/7 series 106,107,126,127,147,Tractors. In August of 71 IH introduced the 8/9 series wide frames. (108,109..ect )As far as the Wide frames being made heavier I personaly disagree, I am fairly shure they were made from the same gauge of steel. A Narrow frame Cub Cadet Frame is virtually indestructible through normal use. At least as tuff as an early wide frames. IH made the change because of engine flywheels I believe, Fitting a 16hp K series in a Narrow frame is very difficult They had to modify the 147 frame just to take the 14hp engine (Narrow frames forever)
