With my experience as a mechanic I would go for a John Deere, Cub Cadet or a Wheel Horse. I collect Cub Cadets and have 6 right now , 4 that I mow with and 2 that are completely restored. My restored ones get to mow sometime and they are 35 and 38 years old. I work part time for a friend that own's a repair shop, and I see what works and what don't. I have a 3 year old Sears 20 hp tractor that looks like new,but all three spindals in the deck are shot, one broke off and went through the side of the deck, I was told that for to fix the deck it would cost about $75-$80 per spindal that does not include belt, pullies etc.etc. or about $500 to fix the deck. I got this tractor in trade for a 1980 John Deere 210 with a 42" mowing deck. The person that gave me the sears tractor is happy as a clam that he can go mow his yard and not have to tighten up every nut and bolt every time he mows as he did with his sears. This is one horror story and I know that there are more out there. As I said in my last post to you look for the major brands the ones that have been at it for a while. It may sound like a lot money for a major brand tractor but as far as I'm concerned it's worth it when the major brand tractor is still cutting your lawn 10-15 years down the road. Thank You Joseph

Today's Featured Article - A City Guy's First Tractor - by Fred Hambrecht. After living in apartments in Atlanta for more years than I care to remember, the wife and I decided to move to the country. Humming "Green Acres is the place for me..." we purchased a 29 acre tract about 60 miles south of Atlanta. Next came the house, I could talk about that ordeal for another two weeks... But, I want to talk about my tractor! We didn't even own a lawnmower, and all of a sudden we had enough grass to feed all the starving children of the bovine world. Naturally, I talked ...
