Recently acquired a 1976 Ford LGT 100 lawn tractor. Had a question about the engine that I posted under a different topic, but so as not to mix up too many questions, here's another...
This tractor has a 4 speed transmission. Reverse, second, third, and fourth, are in a sideways "H" pattern. To go into first or low, there's a hinged peice of metal that you have to move, then it goes to the left from the top left side of the "H" over into low.
It won't go into low. Seems like maybe since that gear wasn't used much something's just stuck from non-use? Or is there something else I'm missing on how to get these to shift to low? I don't want to force the lever and don't want to tear into the transaxle for now since everything else shifts and works fine. Thanks!
