The k181 used 3 different types of ign systems.
1-points/mag coil(rotor type or flywheel magnet ring)
2-points/12v coil
3-solid state(breakerless) If you have solid state system you'll have a trigger module mounted on block over flywheel with 2 wires on it,1 wire goes to a seperate winding on alt stator to power module, other goes to coil which will have an epoxy D shaped case with a single quick disconnect on bottom of coil.If you have this system check pg 8.5 of K series service manual to troubleshoot system or download manual from K series at kohler engines website.
