Does it have points? I have a mini-bike and once it would not start, just backfire every-once-in-a-while and spit a blue flame up the carb.. The bolt for the arm for the points was loose. Otherwise, it is probably somthing in the ignition. I don't hardly know anything about any engines except for Briggs and Tecumseh. But I would doubt that it would be anything in the block itself, (since it did not stop running all at once). I may be wrong, though. I'm only 13! If it is new (or near new) it is probably not wear in the cylinder, (unless you have let it run low on oil). Also check if the flywheel is on right, (this affects the timing, and in turn the ignition). Hope you get it running. I have got lots of work to do to my Gilson before I get back to mowing.
