Part siezure between the pto and traction drive shafts, i.e. the inner and outer shafts coming out of the gearbox into the clutch housing, the transmission will try to drive from the pto side. This can be checked with the tractor split at the flywheel housing. If it still does it with the clutch pushed down through both traction and pto stages then your clutch is not o.k. and one or both plates are dragging. Grease or oil on the clutch linings will cause this especially when cold, siezed spigot bearing and mal adjusted clutch fingers. If you are totally shure the clutch is not dragging, then you must have a gearbox fault as described above, it may only be due to the oil being gummy when cold, check grade and condition.
