Yup. We don't make much here anymore because we've decided that "almost right" is good enough if it's cheap enough. The few products that are proud to be made in America seem to be pretty good quality still, like the Weathertech floor mats for cars and trucks. But, unfortunately, the things that most Americans are willing to pay a premium for to get good quality is getting to be a shorter and shorter list.
I work in the Computer industry, and I'm finally seeing a turnaround from the "off-shoring" of support call centers to India due to the horrid quality of service that you get from the lowest price bidders. The call centers all went to India for a while and they slowly started coming back to the US, but recently I've seen a trend of a number of call centers moving to the Philippines, and they are as bad as, or worse, than the ones in India were.
It's all because of the MBA's who never made anything or repaired anything in their life, are making the decisions based on "cost analysis".
