As some if you know, I was in the market for a Woods BB720X (with front and rear chain shielding). Long story short, after calling around to about 10 dealers in Wisconsin I was simply amazed by the ranging prices. I was looking to buy new because rotary mowers are prone to getting used and abused. The high price was $3800. The low was $2850 (advertised at $3275). Technically I bought a "used" mower but it was only used on paper. A local municipality ordered it without measuring the width of their tractors tire track, the 6' was too narrow. So they reordered a 7 footer. Their loss is my gain since the mower never left the dealer! The low price for a true new machine was $2975, still WAY better than $3800.
I highly encourage everyone to let their fingers do the walking. A penny saved is a penny earned, or in my case up to $950 if I never called around.
