Ground the small terminal on the solenoid.If the starter cranks you have a bad wire going to the transmission.Naa solenoid should be mounted on the side of the battery box and have a metal case if original.This solenoid is the same one that was used on 37 up Ford cars and trucks.Dont mess with the transmission switch.Ground the terminal on the transmission switch to the cover.If the starter fails to crank then check the small wire to the solenoid.Its a simple circuit,know how it works and you can fix it.
