Yes for structural support. 2 3/4" studs bolt it to the bolster and 2 3/4 bolts to the underside of the tranny. You can kind of see the two front studs that bolt it to the 3400 bolster in the photo. Made the engine/tractor much stouter for loader work. I might have read here once that the original 34/44/4500 pan gasket was steel. Maybe someone else knows. I put a CI pan on my 3000 just for a little extra protection. Have seen enough steel pans bashed in from rocks, etc. Even the oil pump bashed in. Works on the light 2/3000 bolster but not on the heavier one.
