Guys, I have read as many old posts as I could find on these pumps, but my situation doesn't seem to come up. Bought this tractor last week, has not run in I believe a year. gas/cap/wires fired right up and sounded good. lift worked fine, no pump noise. Has bad back tires/rims, so could not take it down the road. Messed with little stuff (brakes/greased it up/cleaned gas tank), all the while starting and running it for short periods each day. Took tires off TO30 to put on it to run it down the road. Started it up day 3 or 4 and noise (rattle). Started to read posts, believed it to be the pump. Took it off, made a blank plate to cover hole in block, no more rattle. Here is the problem- the pump is tight. Gear on pump is tight, slowly turning it with finger and squirts out fluid, cam gear is tight. Many posts said to look for loose gear on pump, not the case here, nor is the pump leaking. Is this an internal problem with the pump? Could it be old dirty fluid? I appreciate any help. thanks
