I once had to make a steering arm offset for a loader bracket. I toyed with moding a rad rod socket.. but you need to keep geometry correct.
I think I'd make a bracket that avoided the rad rod if I could even if it was slightly U shaped with 2 pads.
of course that's a shot in the dark not knowing what you are up against for room, and the home made subframe.
post some pics if you get a chance.
in any case.. if you do space the rod.. make sure you do not significantly effect geometry and put it in a bind. most rad rods have some slop.. that will work in your favor.
one other consideration.. with the longer fasteners needed for the spacer.. try to avoid front end colisions.. them longer bolts will be longger levers and may break off.. :)
