The early 4630 used basically the original Ford 4000 3 cylinder diesel engine. The 3930 used a slightly small cu in engine.
Towards the end of the production of these two tractors, Ford & New Holland used the smaller sized engine in both 3930 & 4630 - the 4630's engine had a "soft" turbo to get the extra HP.
In Britain many dealers fitted after-market turbo's to 4000, 4600 & 4630 to get extra HP from a lighter weight tractor. Never heard any reports of the engines blowing up.
You are basically looking at a 3 cylinder engine tractor which has a reputation for being bomb-proof.
