It will be something to do with the casting maker nothing to do with production. There are very often various marks on these castings as they were made out by various suppliers, while it would mean something to them it doesn't mean anything to tractor production. The only number you ever need to be concerned with is the engine serial number that is located, stamped into the block, between the oil filler and the HT Coil mounting. As a rough guide, anything numbers cast into a housing don't mean anything other than to the original supplier, you will sometimes see the date cast into various parts and that is useful to date the Tractor, but it is when the actual part was cast, not when the Tractor was made.....John
