Tisk tisk tisk. Sam? Richard??? Don't you go into Manchester now and then? For some good curry goat atleast? Magnesium Electron isn't a 'thing', it is a limited liability corporation. Making alu-min-eee-um alloys since well before the war. Magnesium is usually an additive to aluminum for certain applications... like Spitfires and Typhoons!! Like Charles said, pure magnesium is a fire trap.. like a roadside flare- or a Junkers JU-88?? Non ferrous alloys were a new technology in the first world war. You need heaps of electricity to refine them. It was the cat's pajamas to forward looking inventors like Harry. Heck, a welding repair on an alloy in the eighties was quite a trick, not that I'd know, me being such a small child at that time...cough cough.. Anyway, they, MELtd- made the alloys that went into the Rolls Royce powered flying machines... no, not Harry's flying machine. Other stuff. An old friend's dad worked in the scrap yard business till it was almost empty, and he was ready to retire at the same time- dunno, late 70's at the earliest? They were outside of Liverpool. I guess the aircraft yards were in the swamps. Mag El LTD recycled the same alloys it once made into airplane parts into... un-named tractor arsends... and Carling Black Label beer cans???? A fine modern use for a fine old fighterplane!!
