So I'm assuming now that it won't start? I would think if the battery was low enough that it was missing, it wouldn't have lasted a couple of hours. Why are the plugs stuck so bad? When was the last time they were changed? Sounds like maybe you're due for some maintenance anyways. Could be your points are in need of cleaning/filing or replacement, could be a bad coil, could be a few different things. You can check for spark by removing the plug wire from one of the plugs and holding it close to a ground while cranking the engine. You should be able to see a spark jump the gap.
