Chas. You could have a vacuum leak . To check for the vacuum leak ,While the engine is running , spray some WD40 around the base of the carb , and where the intake bolts to the engine . If you spray WD40 at the vacuum leak , the engine will stumble . You could also hook a vacuum guage to the engine . It is a cheap , and very valuable diagnostic tool . It can point out all kinds of problems , once you learn how to use it . Some people use either , and listen for the engine to speed up , but either is very flamable , and can be dangerous . Good luck I would check for good fuel flow first .
