Yes, took a ride out that way Sunday morning. Turned out to be a 1961 Special. A lady was selling it, belonged to her husban which was no longer around. She didn"t know anything about it, except what was printed on the cover of the owners manual. That is why she listed it as a Deluxe.
So this one has the old style seat. No live PTO, Hydraulics, tach or power steering. Has the same Wagner loader as my 1956 Standard. Tin looks decent (didn"t check the fender tool box for rust though). Could be original paint as old faded decals were present. 3 tires are fairly new and the other rear tire is decent. Engine started and ran well. A little smoke at first startup, then cleared. Was running rich, and was in garage, so didn"t let it run long. Lift went up and down smoothly with me standing on lift arm. Tractor included rear wheel weights (not mounted).
Asking price was $3600. That is almost double what the 1956 TO35 Standard ran me.
I will hold out for a 35 Deluxe or something simular.
I got to use the 85 I bought a few weeks ago for the first time over the weekend. I put the 2 bottom plow on my 35 and planned to turn over the garden as I have been spreading sheep/goat manure on it since the fall. I found out quickly that the ground was still to wet. I broke through the top layer on the first pass and sunk the 35 down to its belly. Think part of the issue is the loader puts to much weight up front. I backed up to it with the 85, the wider stance let me strattle the ruts made by the 35. I hooked up a tow chain, low range 2nd gear, half throttle.....as the chain tightened, the 85"s nose rose as the govenor kicked in and tugged the 35 right out.
