Larry, What you are referring to is most likely the manifold pressure valve used to divert pressure to the pneumatic lift system that was available on the A. The valve sat just above the manifold in its own housing which was in two pieces. The bottom piece housed the valve (A mere flapper) and the upper piece bolted onto the bottom. The flapper was actuated by a lever that ran up to just in front of the operator. The 1/2" fitting was for the pipe which went to the control valve that sat on the right side behind the last spark plug.//FB
