I always thought the 330/340 engines were updated from the Super C line. I did some checking in the I&T manuals and found:
-- as far as using the same block, the 330's still have wet sleeves, the 300/350's have dry sleeves. And the service pictures of the 135 blocks look very similar to the 123 blocks.
-- the section of the manual covering the 330/340/504 shows the 135 cu in motor came in two flavors, id'd as before and after sn 100501, the later ones listed as having the same larger crank pin and main journal diameters as the 153 cu in motor of the farmall 504.
It lists early 135 motor diameters as:
----- crankpin 1.810 main journal 2.245
Late 135 motors and all 153 motors listed as:
----- crankpin 2.060 main journal 2.6245

And just to keep the waters muddy, I don't know how much to trust those numbers because the section of same manual that covers the 200/230/240/404 shows the 123 motor (up to the 240) and the 135 motor of the 404 having the same crankpin and main journal sizes:
All 123 and 135 motors listed as:
----- crankpin 1.750 main journal 2.125

Last thing I checked was the CT catalog, and they list a common 135 block for the 330/340 and a seperate 135 block for the 404, so that would be interesting if they actually made 3 different versions of the 135, huh?

Sooooo, When you pull apart your 135 kindly post the engine serial number and your crankshaft diameters. Maybe we can clear up some of this mess.
Stan(VA).

Today's Featured Article - The 8N and the Fox - by Zane Sherman. Dec. 13 1998, Renfroe, Alabama. Last niht I dreamed about the day that I plowed the field of about 10 acres over on what Jimmy and Dandy called the Ledbetter field. I was driving the 1948 8N Ford tractor that Jimmy bought in 48 new This was prebably in about 1951 and maybe even befor the house was built. This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit ... [Read Article]
