I have been working on a 350 here lately and I am having some problems with the distributor. When I fired up the tractor the advance would go to full advance. I took the distributor apart and found the advance springs were bad. I ordered a set of springs from IH that were supposed to fit this distributor. That would be a Type "O" according to the master tune up guide. When I fire it up it is still advanced about 10 degrees from TDC. When I rev it, the advance goes to 22 degrees. I don't think I have the correct springs. The new springs are not applying any tension to weights when the engine is not running and I don't think that is right. I looked on the distributor flange for a letter code and all I could find was this number stamped on the flange: D7-987322. I have not been able to find any IH part numbers that are even remotely similar to this. Can anyone help me with this?
