Bergen - If the field resistor is broken, you'll get high charge on the "H" position and no charge on "L". Now if you're getting the same charge rate with the switch in either position, here's several possibilties: 1 - A bad light switch 2 - Wiring between the switch and gen is incorrect 3 - The original cutout relay was replaced with a voltage regulator. The "L" and "H" switch settings now have no significance - other than being two "off" positions for the lights. Most likely the cause is #2 or #3....
