Well, I came awfuly darn close to committing a huge sin. This spring, I was in a hurry to get the F-14 started and out of winter storage. I had the radiator drained over winter. I was out of anti-freeze, so I added just straight water, intending to change it out when I got some later.
Well, I forgot.......until driving home from an auction last night around 8 PM. It was 28 degrees here and had been below freezing all day. I crapped my pants. got home and pulled the radiator drain plug. Nothing. crap. Went back into the house and made up a couple of gallons of hot water. Went back outside and poured it on the rad, block, and connections. first a trickle, then it ran out.
Phew! Absolutely a bone headed move on my part, but got the straight water out without any damage. Fortunately, it didn't get cold enough for long enough for the ice to really setup in the block. Never pays to "cut corners" ........EVER.
