Others can correct me if I'm wrong -- but the prefix on the serial number plate on an M is FBK, for a Super M it is SM. Super M's did not have band brakes. There is a "Super M" here (western Kansas) on a Case-IH dealers lot with "Farmall" on the grill (not "IH") with disk brakes (they were an option on the M). The serial number begins with FBK and it is a 1953 M not a Super M. So even dealers are wrong -- they just don't know any better.
